The central government has allocated ₹72 crore to Kerala for disaster relief, as part of a decision made by the high-level committee led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. A total of ₹1,115 crore has been sanctioned for 15 states.
The funds are not earmarked for specific sectors or projects but are allocated as a central share for disaster relief. The state government is free to decide how to utilize the funds.
Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had indicated that a special fund would be allocated for the rehabilitation of Wayanad.
