Compensation of ₹10 Lakh Announced for Families of Siliguri Train Accident Victims

New Delhi: The death toll in the Jalpaiguri train collision in West Bengal has reached 15. Financial assistance was announced for the victims of the accident. An ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh to those seriously injured. 50,000 has also been announced for those with minor injuries.

Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed about this through X. Earlier, the Prime Minister had also announced financial assistance. The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the family members of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

It is estimated that 15 people have died in the accident so far. It is reported that the loco pilot of the goods train and the guard of the passenger train have also died. About 60 people have been injured. The accident occurred when the goods train, which had missed the signal, collided with the Kanchenjunga Express.
