Educational institutes in the two districts will be closed, rains will continue and trekking and adventure parks will remain closed

Kozhikode: The District Collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions including Professional College in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts tomorrow (July 17) in view of continuing heavy rains. The holiday also applies to Anganwadis. There will be no change in pre-scheduled exams in Kozhikode district. Holiday is not applicable for MRS schools in Wayanad district. The holiday is also applicable to tuition centers.

Heavy rains continue in various districts of the state. In this situation, the Meteorological Department has changed the rain warning. Red alert announced in Kannur and Kozhikode districts. Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts are on orange alert. Orange alert has been declared in Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha. Widespread damage is reported in the state due to the rains.

The collector also informed that the activities of adventure parks and trekking have been banned in Wayanad due to continued heavy rains. The collector also advised the public to avoid non-essential travel. Four people have died in the state so far in the rains. One person died after falling into the white pond at Chokli Olavilam in Kannur.
