Palakkad: Seven people were injured in a fireworks accident during the Kottayi Perumkulangara Temple festival. The mishap occurred during the final round of the fireworks display when sparks from an olappadakkam (a type of firework) scattered. The incident took place around 9:45 PM last night.
The fire spread to Chinese fireworks, gunpowder, and explosive materials that were kept nearby for bursting Kathina crackers. Several people were injured by fragments of roof tiles that shattered from a nearby building due to the explosion. Though many sustained injuries in the incident, most of them returned home after receiving first aid.
