Five people were killed in 39-storey building fire in Sharjah

Police say 5 people died in a fire in a residential complex in Sharjah Al Nahda. 44 people were injured. Details of the deceased are not available. A fire broke out in the residential complex on Thursday night. The fire was noticed in the upper part of the 39-storey building around 10.50 pm. The occupants were immediately evacuated from the building and the rescue workers rushed to douse the fire.

Sharjah Civil Defense completed the rescue operation with extensive preparations. 17 seriously injured people are undergoing treatment. 27 people have minor injuries.

Sharjah Police Commander in Chief General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi expressed his condolences to the family members of those who died in the incident. He also clarified that 156 people of different nationalities who were in the building were safely shifted to hotels with the help of Emirates Red Crescent.
