Siddharth’s death, CBI takes over investigation; Statements of family members and classmates will be taken

The CBI has taken up the investigation into the death of Wayanad Pookode Veterinary College student JS Siddharth. Four CBI officials arrived in Kerala from Delhi yesterday. The investigation team is headed by CBI SP.

The CBI team collected details from Kalpatta DYSP TN Sajeev, who was the investigating officer. The meeting was held in Kannur. Today the team will reach Wayanad and start investigation. The CBI team will take the statement of Siddharth’s family and classmates.

The Home Secretary sought an explanation from the DGP on the delay in the investigation into Siddharth’s death. It is also suggested to provide the names of the officials who have defaulted. It is an unusual occurrence for the Home Secretary to seek an explanation from the DGP.

The High Court had directed the central government to leave the case to the CBI and issue a notification immediately. The court observed that the delay in the investigation would result in the victim not getting justice. Siddharth’s father had also filed a petition requesting the CBI to take over the investigation. Siddharth’s father stated that he welcomed the High Court order and filed the petition because the Kerala government had sabotaged the case.
