Heavy Rain Continues in State, Fishing Banned

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue in the state. Due to a cyclone warning in the Bay of Bengal, a fishing ban has been imposed along the Kerala coast. The extremely severe cyclonic storm, which had formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal, is expected to move towards the Tamil Nadu coast after passing near Sri Lanka.

Rain is expected in all districts today and tomorrow, though no alerts have been issued. However, Yellow Alerts have been declared for various districts on Saturday and Sunday. On November 30 (Saturday), Yellow Alerts will be issued for the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki, and on December 1 (Sunday), Yellow Alerts will be issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Idukki, and Palakkad.

The IMD has also stated that fishing will be prohibited along the Kerala coast from November 28 to November 29, 2024, due to the cyclone warning. The intense depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal has transformed into a cyclonic storm, and the warning has been issued as the cyclone is expected to move towards the Tamil Nadu coast after passing near Sri Lanka.
