Heavy Rain Threat Eases in Kerala, Orange Alert for Kannur and Kasaragod

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has experienced intense rainfall over the past few days, but the threat of extremely heavy rain has now subsided. According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), no district in Kerala is currently under a red alert.

However, an orange alert has been issued for Kannur and Kasaragod districts today, forecasting very heavy rainfall. Additionally, a yellow alert has been announced for seven districts: Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad. No special rain warnings have been issued for any district from tomorrow, December 4, through December 7.

Orange Alert (Very Heavy Rainfall)

03/12/2024: Kannur and Kasaragod districts are likely to receive very heavy rainfall, with precipitation ranging between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm in 24 hours.
Yellow Alert (Heavy Rainfall)

03/12/2024: Yellow alerts have been issued for Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts. Rainfall is expected to range between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours, accompanied by thunder and lightning in isolated areas.
Advisory for Fishermen
The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the Kerala and Karnataka coasts today and the Lakshadweep area until December 5, 2024.
