High Court dismisses plea to reject NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s nomination

Thiruvananthapuram: The High Court rejected the petition seeking rejection of NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s nomination papers. Avani Bensal and Ranjit Thomas from Bengaluru filed the petition in the High Court. It was alleged that Rajeev Chandrasekhar did not take action even though he complained that the property information was hidden in the affidavit given with the paper.

The court said that if there is a complaint, filing an election petition is the only option after the completion of the election process.A bench of Justices V.G.Arun and S.Manu dismissed the petition. The Election Commission has stated that it has received Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s petition and has informed the Deputy Director of the Investigation Department of the Income Tax Department to investigate the complaint.

It was alleged that Rajeev Chandrasekhar did not take action even though he complained that the property information was hidden in the affidavit given with the paper. According to the petition, details of the house, car and private jet were not provided and the share value of the owned firms was understated.
