High Court restricts videography in Guruvayoor Temple. The court imposed restrictions while considering the petition related to the cutting of the birthday cake of Jesna Salim, who claims to be a Krishna devotee who drew attention by drawing pictures of Krishna. The order was passed by a Devaswom bench comprising Justice Anil K Narendran.
The court reminded that the pavement of the Guruvayur temple is not the place to cut the birthday cake. Videography should be allowed only for weddings and religious ceremonies. All other forms of video filming should be strictly regulated, or banned. The order also bans videos accompanying celebrities and videography by vloggers.
People take pictures of the inner temple from beside the lamp post. The court also directed that copying of such scenes should be prohibited. There should not be anything that disturbs the devotees. Guruvayoor Devaswom should take strong measures in such matters. The court also said that if needed, the help of the police can be sought.
