Thiruvananthapuram: The historic Attukal Pongala is today. Preparations were completed and the fire was lit in the Pandara aduppu around 10.15 am. With this, the 2025 Attukal Pongala has begun. The offering is at 1.15 pm. Numerous devotees have reached Ananthapuri to offer offerings to Attukalamma.
The Kuthi Yottam and Chural Kuttum will be held tonight at 7.45 pm. Tomorrow morning, the Akathezhunnallip will be held at 8 am and the Kappizzikkal ceremony will be held at 10 am. The Pongala festival will conclude with the Kuruthi Tharpanam at 1 am.
There was a long queue for the darshan of the goddess in the morning. Extensive facilities have been prepared in the city for the Pongala offering. Clubs and residents’ associations had arranged facilities for the devotees to offer Pongala. The police have also made elaborate security arrangements.
