New Delhi: India has strongly protested against Pakistan over repeated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. During a commander-level meeting between the two militaries, India conveyed its firm stance, warning that any further breaches of the agreement would face strong retaliation.
The meeting took place at the Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch, following continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the Poonch and Rajouri sectors. According to military sources, the discussion lasted for approximately 75 minutes. India emphasized the need to maintain peace along the border and urged Pakistan to adhere to the ceasefire agreement. The Indian Army also reiterated that any further firing across the border would result in a strong response.
Indian military officials further warned Pakistan against providing support to infiltrating terrorists. Pakistani officials reportedly assured that steps would be taken to maintain peace along the border. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah welcomed efforts to resolve the issue peacefully.
The ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan has been in place since November 2003 and was reaffirmed in 2021. Recently, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, in a high-level security review meeting, warned of strict action against cross-border infiltration.
