Potential Spread of Waterborne Diseases; Health Department Issues Warning

Malappuram: With water scarcity affecting various parts of the district during the summer, the risk of waterborne diseases spreading has increased, warns the health department. Extreme heat and dehydration caused by diarrhea could lead to serious health complications, said District Medical Officer Dr. R. Renuka.

Diseases like diarrhea, jaundice, cholera, hepatitis, and shigellosis are more likely to spread under these conditions. To prevent such outbreaks, the public must adopt safe health practices, including maintaining personal hygiene, ensuring a clean environment, and consuming safe drinking water and food.
