Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in Bangladesh following tensions in bilateral relations between the two countries. Misri is set to hold discussions with the interim government led by Mohammed Yunus. During his visit, he will express concern about the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh to the country’s Foreign Secretary.
Misri will also demand a fair trial for the jailed monk Chinmayananda Krishnadas. Following mass protests in Bangladesh, the Sheikh Hasina government resigned, and an interim government led by Mohammed Yunus assumed power. Misri is the senior-most Indian official to visit Dhaka after these political changes. He will hold talks with the Bangladesh Foreign Secretary, as confirmed by Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randeep Jaiswal.
