Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V. Shivankutty has openly criticized a prominent Malayalam actress. The minister accused the actress of demanding ₹5 lakh to teach children dance for 10 minutes. The actress reportedly asked for the amount to choreograph a dance for the opening ceremony of the State School Kalolsavam. The minister also criticized the actress for showing arrogance, stating that such behavior is an insult to Kerala, and urged not to forget the path she took to reach where she is.
However, the minister refrained from mentioning the actress’s name directly. He expressed that as the Education Minister, he was particularly pained by the incident. While the minister clarified that it wasn’t a matter of being unable to pay ₹5 lakh, he emphasized that the decision was to not pay. He also remarked that such behavior came from someone who rose to fame through the arts festival stage and later entered the film industry. The minister further pointed out that actor Fahadh Faasil attended Onam celebrations without taking any remuneration.
