Thiruvananthapuram: Liquor prices will increase in the state from today. The prices of Indian-made foreign liquor, beer and wine will increase. The new decision is considering the demand of liquor manufacturing companies. The prices of various brands will increase by Rs 10 to Rs 50. The price of liquor will increase in the state after 15 months.
In the backdrop of high prices of spirits, companies have come forward with a demand to increase the price of liquor. The average increase is up to ten percent. The prices of 341 brands released by 62 companies are being increased. Along with this, the prices of 107 brands of 45 companies will be reduced. The price of Jawan rum, which is produced under the control of Bevco, will also increase. The price has been increased by ten rupees. Jawan, who used to pay Rs 640, will have to pay Rs 650 from today. Bevco has released the revised liquor price list.
There are 120 companies distributing liquor in the state. Various beers have been increased by up to Rs 20. Premium brands that were sold between Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 have been increased by up to Rs 130. Meanwhile, 16 new companies have signed contracts for liquor distribution. They will provide 170 new brands to Bevco.
