Chennai: Continuous harassment due to dowry. Following this, a Malayali teacher committed suicide in Nagercoil. Shruti (25), a native of Piravanthur, Kollam, was found hanging dead.
Shruti got married last April. Shruti’s husband is Karthik, an employee of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Shruti was found dead at her husband’s house in Suchindra. 10 lakh rupees and 50 pav of gold were given to Shruti during her marriage. But the complaint is that Karthik’s mother used to fight constantly saying that the dowry was reduced. Shruti’s voice message has come out clarifying this.
During the conversation, Shruti says that there is no other option but to die. Karthik’s mother forced him to eat from the cooking pot. He told me to go back home and tortured me. Shruti also says that she will not bring shame to her family by returning. On the complaint of Shruti’s family, the police have registered a case and started investigation. Shruti’s family is settled in Coimbatore.
