Police have identified Pramod Yadav as the main suspect in the mobile phone theft that occurred during the Alan Walker DJ show in Kochi. Two accomplices are currently in hiding in Mumbai, while two others are believed to be in Uttar Pradesh. The theft was allegedly orchestrated by Yadav, who is also responsible for selling the stolen phones. He is reportedly in Uttar Pradesh, and the Special Investigation Team plans to conduct further searches there.
Kochi Police are also planning to dismantle the Mumbai-based theft gang involved in the incident. CCTV footage from the airport has been recovered, showing the stolen phones being placed on trays. The police have seized four phones, one of which is an iPhone, and they will be sent for detailed examination.
The massive heist took place during the mega DJ show attended by over 10,000 people, as Alan Walker captivated the crowd with his music. The well-coordinated theft gang mingled with the audience, stealing phones from distracted concert-goers as they danced to the beats.
Most of the stolen phones belonged to those in the VIP section, where tickets cost ₹6,000 each. All the stolen devices were high-end, with none priced below ₹60,000, and some costing up to ₹150,000. The theft suspicion quickly pointed to a North Indian gang after several victims reported the incident to the police. By then, many of the stolen phones had already left the state. Similar thefts had been reported during Alan Walker’s shows in Chennai and Goa, where VIP attendees were also targeted.
