Thiruvananthapuram: A 9-year-old girl who came to visit her father at the hospital was sexually assaulted. Varghese (74) year-old patient who was being treated in the adjacent ward was arrested, a native of Plamootukada, molested the girl.
The incident took place at Karakonam Medical College Hospital. The elderly man assaulted the girl who came to visit her father who was undergoing treatment.
The nine-year-old girl also came to the hospital with her grandmother. The child’s father has been under treatment for a week. As there was no one else at home, the child had also reached the hospital with her grandmother. It was during this time that the violence took place.
The incident came to light when the grandmother went to buy medicine when the hospital staff and other bystanders came running after hearing the cry of the child being treated in the adjacent ward. Then Vellarada police came and took the accused into custody.
