Minister Responds to Possibility of Adopting Children Orphaned by Landslide

Thiruvananthapuram: The state is grappling with a tragedy it has not seen till date. Every Malayali is trying to get hold of Wayanad. Many children have been orphaned in Wayanad landslides. After this, many people came forward and expressed their willingness to take the babies.

But what no one knows is that these measures are in vain. Such requests also reached the account of Health Minister Veena George. The minister has clarified this.

The minister clarified that the government takes such children under the Central Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. Foster care and adoption are all done through legal procedures. Those who are registered with CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority) can adopt babies. Children from 6 years to 18 years are also provided with foster care.

That too should be done keeping in mind the best interest of the child. Any baby under government care can participate in the adoption process if it is registered with CARA. As many people approach the Department of Women and Child Development with the same demand, this is also written here for them,” the Minister clarified.
