Florida: NASA and SpaceX will launch the Crew-10 mission to bring back Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been on the International Space Station for more than 9 months, tomorrow morning. The launch, which was postponed due to a technical issue, will take place at 4.30 am Indian time on Saturday from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who flew from Earth to the International Space Station in June 2024 on Boeing’s experimental Starliner spacecraft for a mission of just eight days, have been there for more than 9 months. The return trip was postponed after the two were unable to return to Earth at the scheduled time due to a technical problem with the Starliner spacecraft. NASA tried to bring them back several times, but the return trip was postponed due to the risk of the Starliner, which had a helium leak and damaged thrusters. After this, NASA landed the Starliner without a crew.
NASA and its partners are launching the Crew 10 mission to send the next research team to the ISS. NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nicole Ayers, Japanese Space Agency astronaut Takuya Onishi, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov are part of the Crew 10 mission. Once the Crew 10 mission arrives at the ISS, Crew 9, consisting of Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, will return to Earth. The two will be joined by NASA’s Nick Hague and Roscosmos’ Alexander Gorbanov.
