Cannabis in the form of sweets was seized. The sweets containing cannabis were seized from a college student. The sweets were seized from a student of Sultan Bathery Urban Co-operative College.
The student came to know about the candy through social media. The candy, which was purchased online, was sold for thirty rupees. The police found the candy containing cannabis from the student when they became suspicious as there were students standing around. A case has been registered against the student under the NDPS Act.
The previous day, police had seized about two kilos of ganja in a raid at the Kalamassery Polytechnic College hostel in Ernakulam. The police arrived last night following a tip-off that there was ganja in the hostel. The police said that the ganja was brought for sale. Liquor was also seized from the hostel. The police seized the ganja during inspections conducted at two places in the hostel. It was seized while it was being packed in packets.
Three people have been arrested so far. Adithyan, a native of Alappuzha, and Akash and Abhiraj, natives of Kollam, have been arrested. Abhiraj, who was arrested, is a college union office bearer. Abhiraj, the union’s general secretary and SFI activist, is a third-year engineering student. Adithyan, who was arrested, is a third-year mechanical engineering student. Abhiraj and Adithyan have been released on station bail.
