Onakkit distribution starts from Thursday; Kit for all cardholders!

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the distribution of Onakit in the state will start from Thursday. The kit includes 11 items of various items for 88 lakh ration cardholders. The kit is being prepared with the help of volunteers and others after checking the quality and weight at around 2000 packing centers in the state, the CM said at a press conference.

The kit will also have products worth around Rs 500. The kits will be distributed through ration shops by Supplyco at various centers. The kits will be distributed to 5,95,000 Antyodaya families in the first phase. The CM said the kits were being prepared to overcome the difficulties in delivering goods in the wake of the floods.

Distribution of kits for yellow cardholders in the first category on 13th, 14th, and 16th August. The pink cards will then be issued to priority category holders on the 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd. The remaining 51 lakh households will be provided with blue and white card kits. Ration cardholders are required to purchase the onakit from the shop from which they bought the ration in July.

The distribution of 10 kg of special rice per card at the rate of Rs 15 per non-priority card, which used to get a small quantity of grain through ration shops, will start from August 13. Onam markets will be held in all district centers from August 21 for 10 days, the CM said.
