Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has declared a public holiday in the state on Thursday in observance of Poojavep. Earlier, the holiday was announced only for educational institutions. This has been revised and made a public holiday in the state. All educational institutions and government offices will be closed. Banks will also be closed.

Navratri Mahotsav, which lasts only nine days every year, will last for 11 days this year. This time the pooja is on October 10th in the evening. Normally on Durgashtami day, the puja is done at dusk, but this time, as Tritiya falls on sunrise over two days, the puja will be held at 10 pm on Ashtami dusk.

It is taken after Durgashtami and Mahanavami pujas on 11th and 12th and Vijayadashami puja on 13th morning. In this situation, the National Teachers’ Union had submitted a petition to the Education Minister asking for leave on October 11. Based on this, the decision was taken to grant leave.
