Pope Francis, who is undergoing treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital due to a bronchitis infection, is showing signs of improvement. The Vatican has confirmed that the Pope is now breathing without ventilator support. Doctors have reported a positive recovery, stating that the lung infection has subsided. On February 14, the Vatican released the first image of the Pope since his hospitalization.
The Vatican had earlier announced that Pope Francis was steadily recovering while continuing his hospital treatment. Reports also suggested that the Pope was participating in the weeklong Lenten retreat for priests, bishops, and cardinals at the Vatican. Additionally, it was revealed that the Pope had been holding discussions with the Vatican Secretary of State and Chief of Staff from his hospital room, providing necessary directives on governance matters.
Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 due to a lung infection. While he is still receiving oxygen therapy, there are no other major health concerns. Though complications have not been entirely ruled out, medical experts consider his response to treatment to be a positive sign. The Vatican previously clarified that the Pope is not experiencing any breathing difficulties.
