Popular Front’s flash hartal: Rs. 2.42 crore compensation to be paid to KSRTC

A report has been submitted to the High Court stating that Popular Front leaders must pay Rs. 2.42 crore as compensation to KSRTC for damages related to the flash hartal attacks. According to the report submitted by the Claims Commissioner appointed by the High Court, this amount is meant to cover losses, including service disruptions caused by the hartal.

The Claims Commissioner recommended that the amount be recovered from Popular Front terrorists and their followers. The report states that Rs. 2.42 crore should be collected from Popular Front leaders to compensate for the total loss incurred by KSRTC during the flash hartal held by Popular Front on September 23, 2022. A total of 59 KSRTC buses were damaged in the hartal-related attacks.

KSRTC suffered a revenue loss of Rs. 2.13 crore on the day of the hartal. Other claims amount to approximately Rs. 10 lakh. To compensate for the losses caused by service disruptions on the hartal day, a total of Rs. 2.42 crore will be recovered from Popular Front terrorists. The Claims Commissioner has submitted a detailed list regarding the compensation amount to the High Court.
