Kannur: PP Divya, who is in remand in connection with the ADM Naveen Babu suicide case, will file a bail application today in the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court. Naveen Babu’s family will oppose the bail plea and join the proceedings. Divya surrendered to the investigation team the previous day after the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court denied her anticipatory bail.
The court denied anticipatory bail to Divya, accepting the arguments by the prosecution and family that Naveen Babu’s suicide was instigated by character assassination. Divya, who has been remanded for 14 days, is currently held in Pallikunnu Women’s Jail. She was remanded for two weeks, with her custody period set to end on November 12. Under tight police security, Divya was escorted from the magistrate’s house in Thaliparamba to the jail.
Meanwhile, the Kannur District Secretariat will meet today, and it is expected that clarity will emerge on whether organizational action will be taken against Divya.
