Singapore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore for a two-day visit aimed at enhancing India-Singapore friendship. Indian community welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in Singapore. The diaspora Indians welcomed the Prime Minister with special costumes and dance moves unique to India.
‘Lavani’, a unique art form of Maharashtra, has been prepared including dance. The Prime Minister also played the beat of the dol along with the dol artists who accompanied the dance troupe. The visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries and attracting investment from the Asian country.
The Prime Minister, who will visit Singapore after six years, will meet Singapore President Tharman Shanmukaratnam. It is reported that plans to join hands in health, skill development and digital sector will be agreed upon. Modi arrived in Singapore after visiting Brunei. Sultan Hassanal Bolki of Brunei discussed further cooperation projects in the areas of defence, trade investment and energy.
This is Modi’s fifth visit to Singapore. Modi was received by Singapore Home and Law Minister K Shanmugam. An official reception will be given to Modi at the Parliament House tomorrow.
Before the trip, Modi had noted at X that he looked forward to in-depth discussions on partnership with Singapore, particularly in the new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization and sustainable development.
