US President Donald Trump has said that Sunita Williams and her co-passenger will not be paid overtime pay and that there is no change in the decision. Such money will not be paid from the treasury. I cannot do anything that is not allowed by law. If necessary, I am ready to pay Sunita the overtime pay from my own pocket, Trump said.
They are paid $5 per day for daily expenses. That is, 429 Indian rupees. This $5 will be paid for each day spent in space. For spending time in space, each of them will get an additional $1,430. That is, (Rs. 1,22,980). In addition to this, they will also get $94,998 (Rs. 81,69,861) as salary.
Trump clarified that unlike commercial jobs, NASA astronauts are federal employees, meaning they receive the same standard salary as other government employees. Under the general schedule, they do not receive additional pay for extended missions, including overtime work, weekends, or holidays.
Even space travel is considered official travel, just like government employees, Trump said.
