Anti-CAA protests, state government ready to withdraw more cases

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government is about to withdraw more cases registered in the agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The Home Department has sent instructions for this to the district police chiefs. It is proposed to withdraw all the cases where bail is more likely.

It is also suggested that in cases where withdrawal has been proposed, it should be checked whether the request for withdrawal has reached the court. A total of 835 cases have been registered in connection with anti-CAA protests in the state.

The opposition had pointed out that less than 100 cases had been withdrawn. When the Lok Sabha elections were about to be held, Muslim organizations intensified their protests and started trying to win votes by filing a case.
