Eight people died when a tourist bus carrying a group of pilgrims caught fire. The incident took place in Nooh, Haryana. 24 people were injured in the accident. The bus caught fire around 1.30 am today. About 60 passengers were inside the bus.
The old woman who was in the bus told the national media that she jumped out of the vehicle and escaped after realizing that it was on fire. The driver was informed by a biker who noticed that the bus was on fire. Then the vehicle stopped immediately. By that time, the fire had spread from the bottom to the inside of the bus.
The old lady said that she was able to get out quickly because she was sitting in the front seat. She said that most of the passengers inside the bus were her relatives. For the past eight days, the group had been traveling through various spiritual centers.
A man by near the accident site said that they managed to save around 10 people by breaking the windows of the bus. He said that the bus was fully engulfed in flames before further rescue operations were undertaken.
