Union Minister George Kurien Briefs PM on Central Agencies Commendable Work in Wayanad

New Delhi: Union Minister George Kurien visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi and said that the relief and rescue operations carried out by central agencies in Wayanad are commendable. Union Minister George Kurien rushed to the disaster area within hours of the landslides in Mundakai and Churalmala.

George Kurien’s intervention was also behind the fact that the central government was convinced of the extent of the disaster and the active intervention and assistance of the army was ensured in the first hours. Soon after the landslide disaster was reported in Wayanad, he rushed to the disaster site as per the special instructions given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

George Kurien also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the support given by the central government after the Wayanad disaster. He camped at the disaster site in Wayanad and coordinated the operations, wearing a raincoat like a common man, and walking with the rescue workers with his head folded, and the scenes of him walking with the rescue workers were much discussed.

He was active in Wayanad by visiting the camps and assessing the facilities there and giving guidance to the volunteers. After this he returned to New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister.
