Malappuram: In the case of a young woman’s suicide at her husband’s home, her husband Prabin has been remanded. Prabin, a staff nurse at the medical college, has been remanded for 14 days.
The order was issued by the Manjeri First Class Judicial Magistrate Court. Family and friends say that Vishnuja had been subjected to extreme mental and physical abuse. The allegations are that Prabin constantly tortured her, citing reasons such as her lack of a job, beauty, and dwindling dowry.
Vishnuja was found hanging at her husband’s house last Thursday. The Manjeri police, who registered a case of unnatural death, took Prabin into custody on Sunday.
The investigation is ongoing, with charges of sexual abuse and abetment to suicide being levied against him. The police have gathered digital evidence, and the investigation continues.
