The Kerala government has announced state mourning on July 30 and 31 to honor those who lost their lives in the Wayanad landslides. Around 80 dead bodies were recovered from the landslide. Officials said it was difficult to ascertain the exact death toll in the disaster as rescue workers were recovering body parts from rivers and mud.
Among the dead are many women and children. Reported missing for 100 days and trapped. Red alert in eight districts of Kerala. A red alert has been issued in eight districts today in view of heavy rains. Orange alert in four districts and yellow alert in two districts. The Central Meteorological Department has upgraded the current Yellow Alert to Orange Alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts.
People living in mountainous areas prone to landslides, landslides and flash floods should move to a safer place. People should be ready to move during the day. It is also suggested that those living in low-lying areas where waterlogging occurs regularly should move to camps where the situation is assessed and prepared.
