Palakkad: A 19-year-old man has been arrested for stealing money from a middle-aged man by getting caught in a honey trap. Mohammad Harif, a native of Palakkad Kongad, was arrested by Kozhikode Rural Cyber Police. The group, which included Harif, lured the middle-aged man first by sending him some visuals and voice messages.
Later, he started threatening and intimidating the middle-aged man with the same things. Then they made a fake profile of an inspector and promised to settle the case. The gang demanded Rs 40,000 from the middle-aged man to settle the case.
Police say that apart from Harif, who was arrested, another 16-year-old boy planned the crime. He has also been taken into police custody. The Google Pay transaction number is crucial in catching the accused. The accused were produced in court and remanded.
