Palakkad: AK Shanib, former Youth Congress General Secretary, has withdrawn his independent candidacy from the upcoming by-election in Palakkad after a meeting with LDF candidate P. Sarin. Shanib has announced his support for Sarin, stating he will work towards his victory in the election.
Shanib explained that his decision was influenced by the need to avoid splitting the secular vote, which he believes would only harm his objective of achieving a united front. Shanib remarked that he still aligns himself with Congress and is not interested in joining the Communist Party. Instead, his support for Sarin is intended to address issues within Congress and prevent Congress votes from shifting towards the BJP.
Shanib also noted that many within Congress quietly acknowledge the need for internal change, and his support for Sarin reflects his commitment to those values.
