Kochi: The Kerala High Court has received an affidavit from the Home Department concerning the Puram Kalakkal incident. The affidavit states that a special investigation team, led by ADGP H. Venkatesh, has been appointed to probe the controversy.
The government informed the court that its sole objective was to ensure a smooth and secure Puram festival. Any lapses identified at the official level will result in strict action, and a dedicated team has been established for a thorough investigation.
The DGP reported that the ADGP’s failure to intervene in the situation was a lapse in responsibility. This lapse, among other issues, is under investigation. The government has assured the court that 3,500 police personnel were deployed for security and that the facts of the Puram disturbance will be fully uncovered and appropriate action will be taken.
