Following the allegations of corruption against PP Divya, the former president of the Kannur District Panchayat, Kannur ADM Naveen Babu has committed suicide. The Revenue Department has ordered a high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding Naveen Babu’s death.
Joint Commissioner of Land Revenue E. Geetha IAS has been appointed to oversee the investigation. The order mandates an inquiry into matters related to the issuance of an NOC for a petrol pump. This investigation comes amid allegations against Kannur Collector Arun Vijayan, prompting the delegation of the inquiry to Joint Commissioner E. Geetha. Previously, the investigation was assigned to the Kannur Collector.
The order outlines six key aspects to investigate: how the death occurred, examination of the allegations against the District Panchayat President, whether Divya has submitted any evidence, whether there was corruption in the issuance of the NOC, and any other allegations that may exist.
