The investigation into the hybrid cannabis case in Alappuzha is now extending to the film industry. As part of the probe, notices will be issued to actors Sreenath Bhasi and Shine Tom Chacko. Officials have also stated that they will examine the connections of Tasleem, the accused, with the film industry. Her mobile phone will be subjected to forensic analysis, revealing that several WhatsApp chats had been deleted.
Drug transactions were mainly conducted through WhatsApp and Instagram. The accused had rented a car from Ernakulam to facilitate drug dealings. Authorities plan to file a custody application for further interrogation of those currently in remand. Notices to film personalities will be issued only after detailed questioning of the accused, according to the investigation team.
A few days ago, the Excise Department arrested Tasleem Sultana and Firoz with hybrid cannabis worth ₹2 crore. During interrogation, they reportedly stated that the high-end cannabis was supplied for prominent figures in the film industry. Further questioning led to the revelation of connections with film stars.
