Attempt to Murder Case Filed in Wayanad Tribal Assault Incident

Wayanad police have registered an attempt to murder case after a tribal youth, Mathan, was dragged for about half a kilometer on the road by a vehicle in Koodalkadavu Chemmad Nagar.

The vehicle’s registration certificate (RC) owner has been identified as Mohammed Riyaz from Kuttippuram. However, it remains unclear whether Riyaz was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Witnesses reported that five individuals were in the car—three seated in the back and two in the front.

The incident occurred around 5:30 PM yesterday on the Mananthavady-Pulpally road. The car, bearing registration number KL 52 H 8733, fled the scene, and the suspects have yet to be apprehended.

Mathan, who sustained severe injuries to his waist and limbs, has been admitted to Mananthavady Medical College Hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident was triggered by an argument between Mathan and tourists visiting the Koodalkadavu check dam. Locals stated that the group, which arrived in two cars, dragged Mathan following the verbal altercation.
