The CBI will probe the death of violinist Balabhaskar. The case was taken over by the CBI from the Kerala Police. Balabhaskar’s father Unni had said that there was a mystery in the death and that the involvement of the gold smuggling gang in the accident should be investigated.
The state government had in December recommended a CBI probe based on his petition to the chief minister seeking the same. The Crime Branch, which investigated the case, found that the accident was not suspicious. The crime branch came to this conclusion on the basis of the forensic report that the driver of the vehicle driven by Balabhaskar was Arjun.
The Crime Branch concluded that the death of Balabhaskar and his daughter was a natural accident caused by speeding. The accident took place on the morning of September 25, 2018, near the CRPF camp junction at Pallippuram on the National Highway. The accident took place while he was returning with his wife Lakshmi and daughter Tejaswini Bala for temple offerings in Thrissur. Her daughter died at the scene on October 2 while Balabhaskar was being treated at a private hospital.
