Chelakkara Police Seek Court’s Permission to File Case Against Anwar for Election Code Violation

Kozhikode: Chelakkara police have sought court permission to file a case against MLA P.V. Anwar for violating the election code of conduct during the ongoing by-election in Chelakkara. The Thrissur District Collector had instructed the police to take action against Anwar. The case will be filed as soon as court approval is received.

The action is based on the report from Executive Magistrate Vivek, which revealed that Anwar conducted a press conference despite being issued a notice prohibiting such an event. When election officers arrived to halt the press conference, Anwar reportedly said that he was holding the press conference on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Despite repeated requests from election officials to stop the press conference, Anwar continued and had a confrontation with the officials. The officers eventually left after issuing a notice to Anwar.
