Coastal hartal to be held in Kerala today

Kollam: The Fisheries Coordination Committee will observe a coastal hartal in Kerala today against the central government’s blue-economy economic policy and the decision to grant permission for marine mining. The hartal will be held till 6 pm.

The hartal is demanding that the central government withdraw from the mining process that is affecting the fishermen and the country. Along with the trade unions in the fishing sector, workers in related sectors such as the Fishing Boat Operators Association, the Seafood Agents Association, and the Auctioneers
Society will also be part of the hartal.

Organizations like CITU, CPI, and Congress have also demanded that the hartal be made a success. Ports will not function during the hartal and there will be no fish sales.
