Kannur: Statewide protests have been held demanding action against Kannur District Panchayat President P P Divya following the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The protest march organized by various groups towards Divya’s house, which was marked by insults towards the ADM, ended in conflict. Revenue employees have taken to the streets to protest during their vacation. There is also significant dissent within the CPM.
Meanwhile, CPM workers in Kannur have set up a protective barrier around Divya’s house. A clash occurred during a Youth Congress march to Divya’s residence in protest against Naveen Babu’s suicide. Police stopped workers attempting to jump over the wall of Divya’s house, leading to a scuffle between the workers and the police. As the protest intensified, police arrested and removed Youth Congress workers from the scene. The protest was led by the Ernakulam Civil Station NGO Union, and employees from the collectorate also participated.
