The Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha District Councils of the CPI have demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister after the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. There is severe criticism against Pinarayi Vijayan. Even after the election defeat, the leaders criticized the Chief Minister’s arrogant behavior. It was also expressed in the meeting that the growth of BJP should be taken seriously.
The Chief Minister tried to appease only the Muslim community in all the districts in the meetings held in view of the Citizenship Act before the elections. But LDF did not get the vote of this community. Other communities including Hindus also distanced themselves from the LDF. The government has failed to keep all religions together.
LDF’s votes also went to BJP. The Ezhava community distanced itself from the LDF. In many booths where the LDF had an upper hand, the BJP has increased its votes. This should be checked. The leaders pointed out that the government should reconsider. What LDF needs is a path of reconciliation that should bring all religions and communities together.
Suspended welfare pensions and lack of supplies in supply oil affected the election. This criticism was in the presence of Minister GR Anil. The leaders also pointed out that the change in votes in the ballot paper votes of senior citizens is proof of this. Seeing this, the district executive decided that the government should correct it and continue discussions after detailed reports at the constituency level.
Even though the former MP like Panniyan Ravindran was stopped, the CPI got less votes than the last time. CPI did not even get the expected votes in many places in Thiruvananthapuram constituency. The situation was similar in Attingal. BJP in the strongholds of LDF. The criticism pointed to the progress made.
