In a major setback for the CPM in Palakkad, Area Committee member Abdul Shukoor has announced his resignation, alleging mistreatment by District Secretary E.N. Suresh Babu. Shukoor claims he faced severe disrespect in meetings and describes the district secretary as behaving like a “dictator.” Despite years of dedicated service, he expressed frustration over constant neglect, declaring he would sever all ties with the party.
Following Shukoor’s announcement, prominent CPM leader N.N. Krishnadas visited his family, attempting to persuade him to remain in the party. Meanwhile, local Congress leaders have reportedly shown interest in bringing Shukoor into their ranks, reaching out through a Congress councilor. Shukoor’s decision comes after a recent verbal confrontation with E.N. Suresh Babu, which he cited as the final push to leave the party.
