Current Generation Struggles to Write Without Errors; ‘All Pass’ System is Dangerous: CPI(M) Leader P. Jayarajan

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) State Committee member P.Jayarajan expressed concerns over the current generation’s inability to write without spelling errors. He also criticized the ‘All Pass’ system, calling it a dangerous trend.

A minimum mark system should be implemented in examinations. There is a discussion that it is not right to set a minimum mark. However, he said that one can win only if one obtains the minimum mark. P Jayarajan said that the government’s approach to implementing the minimum mark is correct.

Earlier, a minimum mark was made mandatory to pass high school. Following this, reports emerged that the question paper would be toughened. The move is to implement a minimum mark of 30 percent in the written exam in class 8 this year. Next year, it will be made mandatory in class 9 and then 10. Even if you get 20 marks in the continuous assessment, you can pass only if you score 30 percent in the written exam.
