Kannur: Police have registered a case against former Kannur District Panchayat President P P Divya for defamation on social media. The Kannur Women’s Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by P P Divya to the City Police Commissioner. A case has been registered against YouTuber Binoy Kunjumon, Thrissur native Vimal, News Cafe Live, and others.
Divya’s complaint was that she was defamed through social media in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. Naveen Babu committed suicide after P P Divya, the district panchayat president, publicly abused him at the farewell meeting. The controversies started at the farewell meeting held on October 14. The district panchayat president, who arrived uninvited, only made accusations. Words that ruined the joy of the transfer. Naveen Babu left the collectorate without even accepting the gifts he received.
Naveen Babu had booked a ticket for the 8.55 pm Malabar Express to go home. Relatives who reached Chengannur in the morning informed Kannur that Naveen was not on the train. Naveen Babu was found dead when the ADM driver went to look for him at his residence in Pallikunnu. The mysteries in the case, in which PP Divya is the only accused, are still not over.
