Kollam: Granddaughter and her husband have been arrested in the case of stealing a gold bangle, earring and money from her grandmother after beating her by stuffing a cloth into her mouth. Janakiya Nagar-40 in Uliakov and Yashodha (80) in Parvati Mandir were robbed. The granddaughter and her husband were arrested in connection with the incident. Umayanallur native Sarath (28) and his wife Parvathy (24) were arrested.
They used to harass the old lady by constantly asking for money. Sarath came home last afternoon and asked her to take off her earring and bangle. After putting a cloth in her mouth, she took off her earring and bangle.
The granddaughter also joined the work. Sarath also stole Rs 25,000 from the cupboard. Both escaped after being threatened with a sword. In the beating, the elderly woman lost three teeth and her lips were injured. With the help of cybercell, the accused were taken into custody by the East Police from the Kazhakootam side.
