Electricity usage increases; Surcharge of 19 paise per unit will be charged in addition to regulation

Thiruvananthapuram: Electricity consumption reaching a record in the state, apart from electricity regulation, KSEB has also increased the surcharge. It has been decided to charge 10 paise more per unit this month in addition to the existing nine paise surcharge.

With this, the total surcharge will rise to 19 paise. The amount will be charged as fuel surcharge for March. It has been decided to charge the surcharge in the May bill. With electricity consumption reaching a record in the state, the surcharge hike is being implemented in addition to electricity regulation.

The new decision is to introduce an additional surcharge of only 10 paisa on the existing 9 paisa for the last six months. As part of the regulation, power supply will be intermittently interrupted in some areas at night. At the same time, Minister K Krishnan Kutty responded that the benefits of sector wise electricity regulation have started to be felt in the state.
